Yesterday, Microsoft announced via their OXM UK website, that the second season of 1 vs 100 will be underway starting November 19th. Obviously there will be much hoopla surrounding this event in the next few days on the XBL dashboard, but it is exciting nonetheless. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a trivia gameshow where one person is selected to compete against a 'mob' of 100 other people. As players in the mob get answers wrong, the prize amounts go up. If the 'one' outlasts all members of the mob they take all the winnings. If it's the other way around and the mob lasts longer than the one, the winnings are split. This year will feature more themed events in the form of vampires, the 80's, and 'finish that lyric' trivia.
Also of note is that Microsoft has revealed how the one will be selected and it will be purely score based. So the more you play and the better you do, the more likely you are be chosen as the one. Pretty exciting stuff, especially when you consider it is included for 'free' with your XBL Gold membership. One of the criticisms I had of the program last year was repeat questions, as well as how the one was selected (nothing like a game ending in the first round when someone selects Ben Franklin as a president) so hopefully with the addition of more themed events it won't become redundant as quickly.
Again, look for the season to start November 19th, and run for exactly 14 weeks after that. Remember that you can win prizes by playing this game such as Microsoft points or XBLA titles.
